Hi, I'm Sara, and Samantha was gracious enough to offer me a chance to guest blog, so I figure I will try to make this worth reading. :)

I love to write. It's been one of my fondest passions since I was tiny. Even as a youngster, it was quite common to see me tote around a notebook at all times, to give my impressions of things a place to go. (I wasn't exactly a talkative child, so writing helped me reflect.)
My inspirations, as a child, were similar to many people's; I wrote about flowers, about animals, about people. I wrote about school, and a lot of stories about family. It took a while before I really started flexing my creative muscles, though.
I was 8 when I started writing music and poetry. I don't believe that was an accident. I have always felt that music tells a story, with or without words, and sometimes all you really have to do is pay attention to the rhythm. Into my teen years especially, music was such a cathartic impetus for my writing and my life that I was either humming, singing, or listening to music any time I got the chance by the time I was 17. Music and songwriting would have been my career if I hadn't fought with enough music agents (where I lived) to have to accept that they didn't want to work with someone who had more curves than a plank of wood. It was disheartening, to say the least, and it took me a long time to accept that music isn't meant to be how I make my money, but how I feed my soul.
My inspirations now are a little varied. I take a lot of inspiration from what I read, the people around me, but also from my own experiences. Sometimes merely the act of surviving day-to-day is enough to give me something to write about, and that can be a glorious thing.
Most recently, the person giving me a lot of my inspiration is my wonderful boyfriend. (I don't think he realizes this, but he's pretty amazing.) He encourages my writing endeavors, and while he doesn't often ask what I am writing about, if I ask him to take a look at a piece I am working on, he is always willing to help me find perspective, give me a different point of view, or help me with research. He is a God-send, in more ways than one. I feel blessed that, though he knows the very worst I am capable of, he loves me anyway.
